SHORT FILMS AT THE CÉSAR, HOW IT WORKS?
Each year, the Academy establishes a Short Film Committee and an Animation Committee to select films in Official Selections.
24 films are selected by the Short Film Committee and 12 animated shorts by the Animation Committee. The films are announced in September.
These are the films that are voted on by members of the Academy to nominate 5 films for the César for Best Short Film and 4 films fot the César for Best Animated Film (Short Film).
These are two committees that choose among all the short films that have obtained a CNC visa between July 1 and June 30 of the year preceding the Ceremony, the films that will compete for the César for Best Short Film and for the César for Best Animation Film (Short Film).
The Short Film Committee is made up of well-known short film professionals in France who, due to their professional activity, watch a large number of short films. It selects 24.
The Animation Committee is composed of personalities from the Animation sector in France who, due to their professional activity, see a large number of animated short films. It selects 12.
