Supporting the distribution of short films directed by filmmakers from all around the world who will embody the cinema of tomorrow, introducing them to cultural Europe, organizing professional meetings, tightening links between the cinema industries of the world by strengthening the cooperation between their Academies of Cinema, these are the goals of “Les Nuits en Or” project.
The Académie des César invites you to discover the best short films of the year. A unique program of 35 films awarded by Academies of Cinema around the world (Oscar, Bafta, César ...).
Animation, documentary or fiction, the Nuits en Or take you in a few minutes from a funny or crazy universe to a dive into a breathless, moving or even unsettling story.
The long program in Paris and 20 cities around the world
Screened in Paris at the UGC Odéon theater on the 18th, 19th and 20th of June, the long program is made up of all the short films awarded in the year by their National Academy of Cinema. A great overview of world cinema creation, this program is presented by 11 National Film Academies and screened in 20 cities around the world:
Athens, Bari, Brussels, Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Lisbon, Luxembourg, Madrid, Mexico, Milan, Monterrey, Montreal, Naples, Paris, Rome, Sankt Pölten, Tlaxcala, Toluca, Vienna and Zapopan.

In 2019, the short program is made of 9 short films. Including the César for the Best Short Film and the César for the Best Animation (Short Film), the short program is a program of short films selected by the Theatre Owners Committee of the Academy among all the films of the Nuits en Or. This “special crush” of the cinemas program is screened in 28 cities all around France:
Aix-en-Provence, Alençon, Altkirch, Angers, Antony, Brest, Bordeaux, Caen, Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Fougères, Grenoble, Le Havre, Lille, Limoges, Lyon, Paris, Pau, Montpelleir, Nancy, Nantes, Nice, Nîmes, Poitiers, Rouen, Strasbourg, Toulouse et Tours
The Tour from June 10th to 19th
The Académie des César organizes a 10-day tour for all the directors of the long program in 3 major European cities that screen "Les Nuits en Or" (Bari, Rome and Paris) to participate in the public screenings of their film and meet professionals of the local film industry to help them developing future projects.
