The second round determines those who have obtained the greatest number of votes in each category and will be awarded the Cesar.

The announcement of the winners takes place at the Cesar Awards Ceremony, at the end of February, in the presence of all the nominees and a host of personalities of French filmmaking.

The postal voting form and individual code for online voting are sent at the beginning of February to all voting members of the Academy.

The closing of the second round takes place for online voting at 4 pm on the day of the Ceremony, and for the postal vote some days earlier.

The counting of votes in the second round is supervised and closed by bailiff, in his office, from 4 pm on the day of the Ceremony. He then prepares the secure envelopes containing the names of the winners in the 21 categories, and affixes his seal. From then on he keeps the 21 envelopes with him at all times.

He finally arrives at the Ceremony at 8 pm, and takes his place in the wings. Then as each trophy is announced the bailiff personally hands each sealed envelope to the invited presenter, who will open it live on stage, and read its contents to the audience.
