THE NUITS EN OR PROJECT
The objectives of Les Nuits en Or are to promote the European dissemination of work by filmmakers from all over the world who are shaping the cinema of the future, to introduce them to the world of European cultural creation, and to forge closer ties with European filmmakers by strengthening cooperation between their Académies de Cinéma.
The Panorama comprises all the short films that received awards from their Académie Nationale de Cinéma during the last year. Representing a literal panorama of cinematographic creations from around the world, this programme will be presented in numerous European capital cities by the Académie des César and the respective Académie Nationale de Cinéma. Screenings are either held all on the same night or over successive evenings. They are open to the public, free of charge.
This is a programme of short films selected from the Panorama, consisting of the winner of the César du Meilleur Film de Court Métrage, the winner of the César du Meilleur Film d’Animation (Court Métrage), and a selection of short films chosen by theComité Exploitants Court Métrage de l’Académie from the short films featured in the Panorama.
For those directors participating in the Panorama, the Académie des César is organising a tour lasting several days and taking in various European capitals where the Panorama screenings are scheduled to take place, giving them the opportunity to attend the public screenings of their films and to meet local film industry professionals.
The Nuits en Or Gala Dinner
The Académie des César is holding its Dîner de Gala des Nuits en Or at the Maison de l’Unesco in honour of the directors of the short films featured in the Panorama, accompanied by their cinematic godfathers and godmothers.
2016 NUITS EN OR
For this 2016 edition, the Panorama is hosted by 10 Film Academies across several major cities: Brussels, Luxembourg, Madrid, Stockholm, Lisbon, Athens, Roma, Paris and new this year, Vienna and Montreal !
In Paris, the Panorama will be screened from 13th to 15th June at UGC Ciné Cité Bercy.
The Collection will be screened in 23 cinema theatres in France (Aix-en-Provence, Angers, Antony, Biarritz, Bordeaux, Clermont-Ferrand, Grenoble, Lille, Limoges, Nancy, Nantes, Poitiers, Rouen, Strasbourg, Toulouse, Altkirch, Brest, Dijon, Fougères, Lyon, Paris, Pau et Nice) during three special evening on 26th, 27th and 28th May.
This year, the Tour will be held from 5th and 15th June. After Athens and Rome, the filmmakers complete their journey in Paris with the screenings of the Panorama and the meeting with the public.
This Tour is also an opportunity for the Académie des César to interview all these young artists about their film, their vision and their passion for Cinema... These interviews entitled "Paroles d’Or" will be released on our website from the first days of the Tour.
Finally, the Académie des César organizes the Nuits en Or Gala Dinner at UNESCO on 13th June in honour of the directors. Each of them is escorted by an artist from the French Film Industry. These actors, actresses and directors are their « godfathers » and « godmothers » for the night.
Philippe Faucon, director of " Fatima " which received the 2016 Cesar award for the Best Film, is the guest of honor this year. He will meet on this occasion all the directors of the 2016 Nuits en Or edition.
The film schedule will be announced on 25th April.
