SHORT FILM COMMITTEE
The Short Film Committee chooses the films that will compete for the César 2016 for best short film from among all the short films that have obtained a screening permit from the CNC between July 1st 2015 and June 30th 2016. This Committee is made up of figures from the world of short film production in France, whose professional activity leads them to view a large number of short films. It is confirmed each year by the Academy’s Governing Board.
The Animation Committee chooses the films that will compete for César 2017 for best animated short film, from among all the short animated films that have obtained a screening permit from the CNC between July 1st 2015 and June 30th 2016.
This Committee is made up of figures from the world of animated film production in France, whose professional activity leads them to view a large number of animated short films. It is confirmed each year by the Academy’s Governing Board.
In collaboration with the Governing Board, the Discovery Committee proposes an interim list of sixteen young actresses and sixteen young actors chosen from all the interpreters of French film production in theaters in 2016 in order to draw the attention of the Academy members to these young performing artists.
This committee is made up of casting directors working in French film productions. It is confirmed each year by the Academy’s Governing Board.
TECHNICAL INDUSTRIES COMMITTEE
The Technical Industries Committee draws up the shortlist of French technical service companies (between 4 and 12) who will compete for the Trophée César & Techniques from among all those that have worked on at least one of the films eligible for César for best film 2017 and that have responded to a call for candidacies addressed to all these companies.
This committee also chooses from the film sector of technical services companies in France to whom will be awarded the Prix Spécial César & Techniques to distinguish the exceptional nature of its business courses during 2016.
THEATRE OWNERS SHORT FILM COMMITTEE
The Theatre Owners Short Film Committee chooses among all the short films awarded between April 1st 2015 and March 30th 2016 by National Film Academies from around the world, the 7 to 8 films that make up the program of the Collection des Nuits en Or. The films are screened during exceptional evenings in fifteen cities on the 26th, 27th and 28th May 2016.
The Committee is made of the French cinema operators participating in the event.
